UNHCR Representative made a donation of computation technique for nine courts from the law field

On 2nd December, current, UNHCR Representative in Moldova made a donation of computation technique – computers and printers – for 9 courts from the law field in Moldova, valued at more than 77000 lei. This time, donation beneficiaries have become Court of Appeal Balti and Justice Courts from Briceni, Drochia, Edinet, Orhei, Riscani, Soroca, Stefan Voda and Vulcanesti. Should be mentioned that the total value of the IT equipment provided to the law institutions in Republic of Moldova, starting with 2009, within the Regional Program of Protection of the Refugee in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine funded by the European Union, is about 500 000 lei.


In the procedure of transmitting the equipment Mr. Peter Kessler, UNHCR Representative in Moldova, thanked to those present for the interest for the asylum field and for the contribution, proven year after year, to resolve the problems faced by refugees.

In his speech, MR. Dumitru Vesterniceanu, member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, an excellent expert in asylum field, called his colleagues to be fair in exercising their functions, responsive to the wishes of this category of people, but also at the requests of the international and national institutions from the field and of the non-governmental organizations implementing partners of UNHCR projects.   

Mr. Alexei Barbăneagră, Director of the Advocates Law Center, expressed his gratitude for the donation made by UNHCR, mentioning that thanked to the UNHCR support much more collaborators of the legal institutions in Moldova beneficiated of trainings in various seminars organized yearly in Chisinau, or in other localities of Moldova.
Regional Program of Protection funded by EU, with a 400 000 EUR budget for Moldova, was launched in April 2009 and first phase will end in September. The main objective of the project is to help ensuring the fact that the asylum seekers and refugees receive protection and assistance in conformity with the international standards, in the process of management the mix of migration flows. The project aims to ensure that the three countries allow the access of all persons in need of international protection, and the procedure of determination the refugee’s status to be fair and effective.
