On 4 November, current, at the headquarters of the nongovernmental organization Ave Children, a group of children from refugee families in Moldova, received clothes for the cold season.
Starting from 2000, the distribution of clothes packages, for children from the most vulnerable families among refugees, of humanitarian protection beneficiaries and of asylum seekers is carried out every year. Such package includes: a coat, shoes, a hat and gloves.
This year, the clothes package was received by 26 boys and girls, which remained satisfied with the new clothes provided by the Ave Children team.
Mrs. Veronica Drăgan, social assistant of Ave Children organization, directly involved in the purchasing of the clothes, said that before buying the clothes we gather information on the age, high and other physical details of the children, sometimes we take into account the children wishes about the color and the design of the clothes, but without exceeding the amount determined for every child. The total amount for this purpose it’s about 35000 lei.
Should be mentioned the fact that children who attend the schools and kindergartens, beneficiate of full funding, within the educational institutions – the class fund, the fee for renting the books, the purchase of school supplies, the payment for food etc.
Along with their children, the parents accompanied them; they said that they are very satisfied with the help, because it exempts them from additional costs, and in this way they make savings in the family budget.
At the question how they feel in Moldova, the group of children, who were fitting their clothes, answered that they are feeling good at school and they get along with their classmates and they wouldn’t return to their origin country because here the living conditions are much better.
We mention the fact that refugees also benefit of food packages (every 3 months), sanitary products for women and girls (every 2 months), medical and educational assistance, and extra – curricular activities.
Financier of this project is the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Representative (UNHCR) in Moldova, which, among others, has the mission to support this category of deprived persons which benefit of protection provided by the Moldovan Republic.
